Numbering Plan & Domain Name Allocation:
Prior to the changes implemented in early 2005, the previous numbering plan faced the dilemma of being rapidly exhausted in upcoming years especially in light of the liberalization of the telecommunications sector which has introduced new operators. In view of this, a new National Numbering Plan was implemented to cover the needs of the Sultanate in such a way as to decrease disruption to current telephone subscribers while at the same time accommodating the growing market demand and meeting it for the next twenty years.
The TRA publishes a report on the National Numbering Plan, which shows all the number blocks used in Oman. This report is updated on a regular basis.
