Naashiah S. Al-Kharusi
Engineer Naashiah Al-Kharusi was appointed as a full-time member of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in the Sultanate of Oman by the Royal Decree No. 83/2007. She was previously a member of the Temporary Committee which ran TRA business since its establishment in 2002.
Prior to her current designation, Engineer Naashiah was the telecom advisor to H.E. the Minister of Transport and Communications on all technical and policy matters relating to telecommunications sector development. She also served as a member of the board of Omantel since its establishment in 1975 until May 2002 when she served as chairperson of the technical committee and as a chairperson of tariff committee. She was a member of executive committee of restructuring of the telecom sector and chaired the task force in the preparation of privatization of the incumbent.
Engineer Naashiah contributed to the establishment of the first frequency coordination committee for the AGCC countries. In 1996, she acted as a governor for a full year in Intelsat Board, representing AGCC group in this organization.
On the international level, Engineer Naashiah was elected as a Vice-chairperson of the Telecommunications Development Advisory Group of ITU from 2001 to 2002. In 2002 she was elected as the vice-chairperson of Study Group 1 (SG 1) of the Telecommunications Development Bureau of ITU.
