Public Consultation on Access and Interconnection Regulation

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (the TRA) is empowered under the Telecommunications Regulatory Act (the “Act”) to regulate the provision of Access and Interconnection (“A&I”) services which must be offered by public telecommunications licensees in the Sultanate of Oman (the “Sultanate”). In this respect, the Act allows the TRA to develop specific rules and procedures regulating the provision of A&I services in the Sultanate, including rules and procedures relating to the resolution of any disputes arising in connection with the provision of A&I. The TRA has framed draft Access and Interconnection Regulation along with a Consultation Document, and it intends to consult the industry and other interested parties before finalizing the Access and Interconnection Regulation.
