Annoucement of extenstion to the Public Consultation on Retail Tariff Regulation

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) is pleased to inform all telecom licensees and other interested parties that in consideration of requests from licensees for extension of the consultation period to enable them to submit comprehensive response to the subject consultation paper, the TRA has decided to grant an extension up to May 21, 2015 (by closing hours)

Based on its last market review, the TRA has been preparing new or amending existing regulatory instruments to address competition issues. TRA has now developed Retail Tariff Regulation, which is one of the remedies to address dominance (Significant Market Power) issues. This regulation is aimed to be a single reference for all matters relating to filing and approval of retail tariffs. It sets out in detail the processes that the Authority intends to adopt in future for the registration and filing of retail tariffs from dominant and non-dominant licensees.
